Haven't posted anything in over two months. The holidays were hectic and I started a new job that's kept me very busy (plus has a 45 min. to 1 hour commute, each way).
Took me a while to get into the new daily routine, but I'm starting to ease into it at last. A big change from working on film projects full-time, but the bills must be paid. The whole starving filmmaker thing is neither glamorous nor fun.
Most importantly, I'm back on track with the script writing. I'm doing five minutes each week day. Sounds like nothing, but over time it's been moving the script forward.
Right now, I'm working scene-by-scene at the treatment level, focused both on the feedback I got on the last draft of the script, plus making stronger connections to carry the overall plot forward.
Since I took over a month off from writing, I'm coming to it with fresh eyes and cutting a number of segments and even scenes. Good thing too, since it's way too long and I'm also adding in a bunch of stuff.
Overall, it feels great to be making progress every day. I can't wait to get the next draft out, since I plan to submit that to competitions (why not?) and most importantly, start shopping to actors and a wider circle for review and support.
Five minutes a day is all it takes.
