Another quick update.
All the proxy video files have been re-organized and now we're tackling the challenge of rebuilding the project file (the original is corrupted). It looks like we may need to edit the actual exported XML from the project file as a way to cleanse the offending corruption.
Have you ever edited an XML file? It's a text file. Over 60MB huge. Thatsalottatext.
We're also in the process of re-balancing the original RAW video files onto our various drives (with 4x redundancy).
We have so many video files that we actually wrecked a new drive and had to return it for replacement. Turns out, you don't want to have twenty ginormous folders filled with RAW video files copying over Firewire 800 while you go to sleep. The stupid computer tries to write them all at the same time and I fear the constant movement of the drive head over many hours of data transfer broke the mechanism. It took a few days of testing to figure out the drive was dead. With this project, it sometimes feels like three steps forward, two-and-half back.
But still, in sum there's progress.
Anyway, can't wait to get past this hurdle, rebuild our project file and resume editing.
